Sten Kauber is a junior research fellow in MEDIT and a doctoral student in Baltic, Film, Media and Arts School (BFM), Tallinn University. Sten holds an MA degree from the University of Helsinki, where he studied transnational material practices of migrants. In his PhD research project "Estonian film audience – multidimensional approach to shaping of practices", Sten will explore the interplay between consumption patterns of film viewers and industry activities by focusing on imagined affordances, audience conceptualizations, and practices. When Sten is not researching the Estonian film and media sphere, he writes weekly film reviews for the biggest media outlets in Estonia. Sten is the assistant editor of Baltic Screen Media Review and a member of ECREA and Estonian Association of Film Journalists.
Research interests: audience research, media management, audience design, consumption and material culture, cultural memory, transnationalism, personhood.
