Külliki Tafel-Viia is a researcher at BFM and the School of Governance, Law and Society. She also leads development programmes at Tallinn University's Open Academy. Her teaching activities include a course on Innovation and Creative Economy at BFM and courses on creative industries and creative entrepreneurship at the Estonian Business School and the Viljandi Culture Academy of Tartu University. Since January 2016 Külliki has been the head of the inter-university entrepreneurship education program Edu&Tegu at Tallinn University and developed the creative industries-oriented pre-incubator STARTERcreative. She is also a co-creator of Loomehäkk, Estonia’s first creative industries hackathon. Since 2017 she has been involved in the development of an open lab at Tallinn University aiming to foster academia-industry partnerships.
Külliki's 15+ years of professional experience in the field of creative industries include work both as a project and research leader. She has been involved in most of the creative industries-related research in Estonia, as well as many international research projects. Her research interests also include social innovation, future studies, service design and entrepreneurship. She has also been involved in consulting national and regional authorities on the development of CI-related strategies and development plans.
She holds an MSc degree in Social Sciences from Tallinn University of Technology where she continues her doctoral studies on policy innovation and institutionalization in the field of creative industries in Central and Eastern Europe.Külliki’s profile on ETIS (Estonian Research Portal).
